An energy service company can rip you off badly. To make sure they don't, you need to get an energy efficiency audit. They can investigate your business or home to ensure that you are saving as much money as possible.
I have a friend who hired an energy efficiency consultant. He did it in passing, not expecting much savings to come from it. Well, the next month his bill was hundreds less. He couldn't believe it.
